Imaging revealed a primary lung tumor and brain metastases. EGFR mutation was confirmed through biopsy and genetic testing.<\/p>\n<h3 data-sourcepos=\"11:1-11:38\"><strong>Initial Treatment and Progression:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-sourcepos=\"13:1-13:241\">Targeted therapy with Gefitinib was initiated, followed by a switch to Icotinib due to disease progression. However, the patient eventually experienced further deterioration, likely due to the development of EGFR T-790M resistance mutations.<\/p>\n<h3 data-sourcepos=\"15:1-15:42\"><strong>Patient\u2019s Choice and Hydrogen Therapy:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-sourcepos=\"17:1-17:254\">Declining further conventional treatment, the patient opted for hydrogen inhalation therapy. Remarkably, after only 4 months of hydrogen therapy, brain metastases began to shrink and disappear. Complete remission of metastases was achieved within a year.<\/p>\n<h3 data-sourcepos=\"19:1-19:25\"><strong>Potential Mechanisms:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-sourcepos=\"21:1-21:183\">While the exact mechanisms underlying this remarkable outcome remain unclear, hydrogen\u2019s neuroprotective, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antitumor properties are likely involved.<\/p>\n<h3 data-sourcepos=\"23:1-23:41\"><strong>Benefits Beyond Metastasis Reduction:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-sourcepos=\"25:1-25:218\">Hydrogen therapy has also demonstrated efficacy in alleviating symptoms such as dyspnea, cough, and chest pain associated with lung cancer, as well as headaches, dizziness, nausea, and pain related to brain metastases.<\/p>\n<h3 data-sourcepos=\"27:1-27:49\"><strong>Hydrogen Therapy as a Complementary Approach:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-sourcepos=\"29:1-29:256\">Hydrogen therapy can be employed as an alternative or complementary therapy alongside conventional treatment modalities, such as platinum-based chemotherapy, targeted therapy, and radiotherapy.
