{"id":16361,"date":"2023-08-15T16:34:47","date_gmt":"2023-08-15T13:34:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hho-bulgaria.com\/?post_type=green-hydrogen-news&#038;p=16361"},"modified":"2023-08-15T16:34:47","modified_gmt":"2023-08-15T13:34:47","slug":"uniper-launches-research-on-german-hydrogen-storage-site","status":"publish","type":"green-hydrogen-news","link":"https:\/\/hho-bulgaria.com\/fr\/green-hydrogen-news\/uniper-launches-research-on-german-hydrogen-storage-site\/","title":{"rendered":"Uniper launches research on German hydrogen storage site"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>LONDON (ICIS)\u2013German utility Uniper launched its HyStorage research project with the aim to determine the technical viability of porous rock facilities for the storage of hydrogen, the company announced on 8 August.<\/p>\n<p>The testing process is expected to take place on a designated drilling site at Uniper Energy Storage Bierwang site.<\/p>\n<p>The Uniper-led consortium is consisting of the energy firms, NAFTA, Securing Energy for Europe (SEFE), RAG Austria and OGE and intends to bring a specialised storage testing unit which will investigate the effects of hydrogen of porous rock formations.<\/p>\n<p>The research project does have the backing of the Southern Bavarian Mining Authority, which has also approved this proposal.<\/p>\n<p>According to OGE and Uniper, commissioning is in progress and the first hydrogen volumes are expected to be injected in September.<\/p>\n<p>TECHNICALS<\/p>\n<p>The test consists of injections of methane-hydrogen gas mixtures at different concentrations of hydrogen of 5%, 10%, and 25% content in the gas mixture.<\/p>\n<p>The goal is to inject such mixtures to formerly-used natural gas storage facilities in three phases and withdraw them after three months for observation.<\/p>\n<p>Uniper mentioned that independent investigations are required for each facility that is planned to store hydrogen, made up of porous rock formations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>LONDON (ICIS)\u2013German utility Uniper launched its HyStorage research project with the aim to determine the technical viability of porous rock facilities for the storage of hydrogen, the company announced on 8 August.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":16358,"parent":0,"menu_order":0,"template":"","news-category":[],"class_list":["post-16361","green-hydrogen-news","type-green-hydrogen-news","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.1 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/product\/yoast-seo-wordpress\/ -->\n<title>Uniper launches research on German hydrogen storage site &#187;
