Smoltek first patent targeting the green hydrogen industry now granted.<\/p>\n

Smoltek Nanotech Holding AB (publ) announces that a new patent has been granted, which brings the company\u2019s IP portfolio to comprise 80 granted patents. This granted \u00a0patent is the first of a new patent family, called \u201cElectro Catalyst Support\u201d, which is targeted towards the production of\u00a0green hydrogen<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The innovation discloses how Smoltek\u2019s carbon nanofibers can support the iridium catalyst load in a PEM-electrolyzer in a better way.<\/p>\n

Smoltek protects the company\u2019s innovative technology platform through an extensive and growing patent portfolio consisting of around 110 patent assets, of which 80 now have been granted.<\/p>\n

The latest patent is the first of a new patent family, called \u201cElectro Catalyst Support\u201d, and regards how to use Smoltek\u2019s core technology in electrochemical cells. In this case \u2013 how the group company Smoltek Hydrogen can use the technology to radically decrease the amount of iridium catalyst load in PEM water electrolyzer cells as well as increase the output per area of the cell.<\/p>\n

Fabian Wenger,\u00a0<\/strong>Head of R&D at Smoltek Hydrogen said:<\/p>\n

With this new patent family Smoltek expands its IP portfolio to include the field of green hydrogen production.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\u201cThis is a breakthrough for us as we now can be a key supplier of technical solutions that enable the hydrogen industry to scale up the production of PEM electrolyzers.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Electro Catalyst Support patent family is covering an electrolyzer and a method for producing a catalyst supported on a nanostructure. The innovation relates to devices used in electrolysis, particularly for the electrolysis of water, a way of producing hydrogen gas without fossil fuels. It provides means of converting excess electrical energy from intermittent energy sources, such as wind and solar power to chemical energy for storage and later use.<\/p>\n
