In a remarkable development poised to shape the future of sustainable urban living, India’s Construction Industry Development Council (CIDC) and the Korea Research Institute for Human Settlement (KRIHS) are set to converge during a one-day forum in New Delhi on September 11, 2023. The topic of discussion: Green Hydrogen Smart Cities.

The Korea-India Infrastructure & Urban Development Forum, aptly titled “Hydrogen Smart City” Network, will serve as a nexus for decision-makers, policy shapers, and experts from diverse sectors. Distinguished participants include Chang Jae-bok, Ambassador of South Korea; Dr. Sudhendu J. Sinha, Advisor at Niti Aayog; K R Bonpo, Secretary of Commerce and Industry, Sikkim; and the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Sikkim, Shri Prem Singh Tamang. The event will also draw representatives from both Indian and Korean industries with a keen interest in the green hydrogen domain.

Adding to the event’s significance is the support of the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy (KIEP), a prominent national policy research institute focused on global economic issues. With its third overseas office recently inaugurated in Delhi, KIEP is expected to play a pivotal role in bolstering India-Korea economic relations.

Notably, the CIDC, NITI Aayog, and KRIHS have already initiated discussions on the ambitious plan to develop ten Green Hydrogen Smart cities across India. The one-day forum will serve as a strategic platform for brainstorming the possibilities and crafting a feasible framework for this visionary endeavor.

The core of these discussions will revolve around the production, storage, and application of green hydrogen within the Indian context. The forum is poised to foster collaborative efforts between Indian and Korean businesses, encompassing the exchange of technical expertise, investment prospects, and resource sharing. This synergy aims to cultivate a robust partnership that drives progress in the green hydrogen sector.

Underlining the commitment to this cause, the CIDC recently inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Zeus Law Associates. With a particular focus on serving Korean corporates, this partnership seeks to promote the Green Hydrogen Smart Cities project among government agencies in both nations.

The CIDC-KRIHS Green Hydrogen Forum stands as a prestigious gathering of industry luminaries, policymakers, researchers, and stakeholders, all dedicated to advancing renewable energy, specifically green hydrogen technologies. This event provides a unique platform for knowledge exchange, collaborative dialogue, and networking opportunities on a global scale. The discussions delve into policy frameworks, investment prospects, and the latest technological strides in the green hydrogen arena.

The forthcoming event marks a remarkable milestone in the pursuit of sustainable energy solutions. It brings together thought leaders and stakeholders from India and South Korea, uniting their efforts to address the challenges and seize the opportunities presented by green hydrogen. This forum represents a rare chance for cross-border knowledge sharing and collaboration, with the ultimate aim of contributing to India’s clean energy objectives and fostering the development of Green Hydrogen Smart Cities.
